SPECIAL FOCUS ON CME OPTIONS

ACSM is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to sponsor continuing medical education for physicians.

The ACSM Medical Education Committee, comprised of member physicians from a variety of specialties, meets throughout the year to create, review and evaluate CME offerings. Here's a brief look at the quality programs and venues designed to compliment your continuous learning efforts:

Conferences for the Team Physician
Choose between the Team Physician Course, Part I and II, or the Advanced Team Physician Course. TPC Part I & II meets the needs of clinical practitioners from varying medical practices who care for and manage athletic teams as part of their total practice. The courses do not have to be taken in sequence. The ATPC, co-sponsored by ACSM, AOSSM and AMSSM is designed for the team physician with a sound foundation in sports medicine. This course presents the latest information and application of medical information in the practice of sports medicine.

Clinical Components of the ACSM Annual Meeting
Physicians find the clinical component of the ACSM Annual Meeting both strong and diverse. The clinically specific objectives of the meeting:

  • Describe the inter-relationships among exercise, fitness, health, and physical performance for active and inactive individuals.
  • Evaluate and formulate a treatment plan and provide rehabilitation for exercise-related injury to the foot and ankle, hand and wrist, knee, shoulder, and spine.
  • Diagnose and formulate a treatment plan for exercise-related medical problems, including cardiovascular, pulmonary, endocrine and other organic and functional disorders.

Sessions are presented in a variety of formats including: clinical case presentations; clinical lectures, clinical colloquia, clinical small group discussions and hands-on workshops.

ACSM's Health & Fitness Summit & Exposition

Although not specifically designed as the typical CME Conference (CME not available), the Summit is enjoying increasing participation among M.D.s . We provide programming geared towards the issues at the forefront of practitioners in our "Sports Medicine/Medical" track. The program bridges the gap for many between science and practice and provides a vast amount of cutting-edge information in the area of health and fitness. Click here for more information.
