PURPOSE AND CHARTER HISTORY OF ACSM'S REGIONAL
CHAPTERS
Purpose
Charter History
PURPOSE-
The purpose of the Regional Chapter program is to stimulate
involvement of large numbers of people in supporting the Mission and
work of the national organization. The Chapters play a unique role,
given the assumed ability to more directly and frequently interact with
students, professionals and the public. Because of these unique
qualities, Chapters were formed to:

Introduce students to ACSM.

Serve as a proving ground for leadership in the
College.

Introduce non-member professionals to ACSM.
-
Broaden the base of participation in ACSM
activities in a manner that minimizes expenses to the participant - such
as staging affordable educational conferences at the state and local
levels.

Play an integral role in national programs in the
areas of public education, continuing education, public relations,
governmental affairs, and ACSM membership promotion.
