1. Please list your service to ACSM.
I have given numerous talks at Annual Scientific Meetings, including a President’s Lecture in 2008. I received the New Investigator Award in 1994. I currently serve on the editorial board of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise® (2006 – present), having been a Foreign Corresponding Editor (2000 – 2006), and I am an Associate Editor of Exercise and Sport Sciences Reviews (2000 – present).
2. What is ACSM’s greatest strength and how would you make that aspect of the organization even stronger?
The greatest strength of ACSM is its disciplinary and geographical diversity in its support of exercise science and sports medicine and its advocacy for exercise as part of a healthy lifestyle. I bring considerable experience in exercise physiology teaching and research and university administration, as well an international perspective from my base in Australia, but with close links with European and Nth. American colleagues.
3. ACSM works closely with many other organizations, including associations, companies, philanthropies, and governmental agencies. Indicate those organizations/companies/agencies for which you play an advisory, consulting, or leadership role.
I served on the Science Advisory Board of the Gatorade Sports Science Institute from 1996 -2008, but have no current links with any commercial organisations. I sit on the Board of the Victorian Institute of Sport.
