Advancing health through science, education and medicine

Every Body Walk! is a campaign aimed at getting more Americans up and moving. With your help, we can spread the message that walking 30 minutes a day, five days a week really can improve one’s overall health and prevent disease.

The American College of Sports Medicine is working with Kaiser Permanente to drive awareness of the Every Body Walk! 30 Minutes to Better Health initiative to clinicians and other medical professionals. Download the Every Body Walk! Walking Brochure.

Nominations Open for ACSM’s "Walks the Walk" Outstanding Clinician Award

ACSM will once again honor a selected individual with its second "Walks the Walk" Outstanding Clinician Award, recognizing their remarkable contributions to improving physical activity in the United States, one patient at a time. The awardee will be honored at the National Walking Summit coming up September 13-15, 2017 in St. Paul, Minnesota.

The award shines a national spotlight on individuals, and the organization they represent, that have made a significant commitment toward physical activity assessment with their patients.

A committee will select an awardee from nominations that meet the selection criteria. Learn more about the "Walks the Walk" Outstanding Clinician Award program and/or nominate a deserving individual. Nominations close at 12 pm ET (Noon) on July 31, 2017.

The winner of the "Walks the Walk" Outstanding Clinician Award will receive a stipend for travel to the Walking Summit, and lodging will be provided. The summit brings together the multiple supporters, allies and disciplines working to increase walking and making our communities safer, attractive and accessible for walking.
