  • How to Get Your Family to Exercise Safely This Winter

    Family Goes Strong Doctors want you to get your family outside, exercising together in the winter. After all, two-thirds of Americans are overweight. But what can you do to decrease the risk of injuries and other cold-weather problems? A lot. The American College of Sports Medicine, for example, recommends using double-sided tape to attach a piece of a metal scouring pad or metal netting to the bottom of your shoes to get more traction on ice and snow. Who knew?

  • Resolve to Hit the Ground Running This New Year's Eve

    USA Today Mary Wittenbergreally has plans to start 2012 on the right foot. She will be lacing up her sneakers for a 4-mile midnight run Saturday through Central Park in New York City. Family members and about 5,000 other runners will join her in the Emerald Nuts Midnight Run, one of countless healthful celebrations people will partake in across the USA to celebrate the New Year.
