Worksite Health Group Says “Lose the Silos”

Experts: Integrate the protection, promotion of worker health

 

LAS VEGAS – Federal officials got it right, according to the International Association for Worksite Health Promotion. Leaders of IAWHP, an affiliate society of the American College of Sports Medicine, met at ACSM’s 16th annual Health & Fitness Summit & Exposition The IAWHP board today endorsed the Total Worker Health program of the National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH).

 

Citing a growing body of evidence, IAWHP leaders recommended the approach of integrating efforts to protect workers’ safety along with promoting their overall health and well-being. This is consistent, they said, with strategies adopted by both European nations and the World Health Organization.
