Advertisements for various vitamin and mineral supplements are prominent in today’s media, but are they truly necessary for good health?
Many nutritional experts say no. A balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, low-fat dairy, and grains will give the body all the vitamins required for optimal health. In addition, there is little scientific evidence to prove that vitamin supplements or protein supplements help athletes perform better.

Vitamins can be useful for people with significant nutritional deficiency, but a balanced diet is likely the best way to ensure your body has the fuel it needs to function at its best. It may be beneficial to review your lifestyle needs with your physician to determine if taking additional vitamins is needed for your healthcare plan, or to review where you can fit more vitamins into your daily diet.
