ACSM members with a Ph.D. or equivalent are eligible to apply. Preference will be given to researchers with basic knowledge of full occlusion therapy or the KAATSU Training methodology for this collaborative research. Multi-center collaborative applications are encouraged. Use of the Sato Sports Plaza/KAATSU equipment as well as approved training is required for the conduct of your study. Replicating some of the Japanese studies in the U.S., as well as embarking on new areas for study of KAATSU Training is desired. Individuals awarded grants will be trained by ACSM-approved Sato Sports Plaza KAATSU trainers and will be loaned relevant training equipment for the duration of their studies. Awardees will be expected to report on their funded research (both interim and final reporting) at the ACSM Annual Meeting KAATSU Interest Group meeting. We anticipate funding up to 10 research projects at $10,000 per year for a two-year period.
The 2013 ACSM KAATSU Training Grant application will be available in September 2012.
