Student Awards

ACSM invests in the future of sports medicine and exercise science by giving to our student members. Student members are eligible for grants and awards to offset the rising costs of tuition and travel. Upcoming student award opportunities are listed below. 

Gail E. Butterfield Nutrition Travel Award

The Gail E. Butterfield Nutrition Travel Award helps fund travel expenses for Ph.D. students traveling to ACSM's Annual Meeting to present their scholarly work.

Two $500 travel awards are offered (one U.S.student and one international student).

Award requirements:

  1. Must be a Ph.D. student in good standing conducting research in humans focusing on one or more of the following five areas: protein metabolism, altitude and nutrition, energy balance, nutrition and exercise interventions to improve metabolic health, or nutrition and the female athlete.
  2. Must be presenting a research project at ACSM's Annual Meeting in Minneapolis, MN
