Purpose and Charter History of ACSM's Regional Chapters
Purpose:
The purpose of the Regional Chapter program is to stimulate involvement of large numbers of people in supporting the Mission and work of the national organization. The Chapters play a unique role, given the assumed ability to more directly and frequently interact with students, professionals and the public. Because of these unique qualities, Chapters were formed to:
- Introduce students to ACSM.
- Serve as a proving ground for leadership in the College.
-
Introduce non-member professionals to ACSM.
-
Broaden the base of participation in ACSM activities in a manner that minimizes expenses to the participant - such as staging affordable educational conferences at the state and local levels.
- Play an integral role in national programs in the areas of public education, continuing education, public relations, governmental affairs, and ACSM membership promotion.
