HIIT for Chronic Disease, a Panel Discussion | Oct. 5 at 6 p.m. EDT 

The popularity and widespread use of high-intensity interval training (HIIT) is well known in healthy populations. HIIT is also beginning to emerge as a viable option for therapeutic exercise for those with chronic disease; however, questions remain about its safety, applicability and implementation strategies within an exercise program. In this panel discussion, attendees will be able to interact and ask questions directly with the authors of several feature articles published in the special, themed issue of ACSM's Health & Fitness Journal®Register now.

Health & Performance Considerations for Female Soccer Players | Oct. 14 at 2 p.m. EDT

There has been a substantial rise in participation, as well as increased financial support from governing bodies, in female soccer over the last decade. This has put an onus on researchers and medical departments to develop a better understanding of the physical characteristics and the health and performance considerations of female soccer players. This Gatorade Sports Science Institute (GSSI) presentation by Rebecca Randell, Ph.D., will discuss the current research and knowledge gaps related to the health and nutrition needs of female players. This webinar qualifies for up to 1.0 CEC courtesy of ACSM and GSSI for those who attend the live event. Register now

The Role of Physical Activity in Type 2 Diabetes Management and Prevention | Oct. 21 at 2 p.m. EDT

It has long been known that physical activity is important in the glycemic and health management of people with type 2 diabetes. It is also well established that being active may prevent or delay diabetes onset and reverse prediabetes. This Technogym presentation by Sheri Colberg, Ph.D., FACSM, will cover the main evidence supporting the role of physical activity in diabetes management and prevention, along with covering the most important activities for adults with type 2 diabetes to undertake. This webinar qualifies for up to 1.0 CEC courtesy of ACSM and Technogym for those who attend the live event. Register now

The Greater New York Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine has set goals to

1)  Promote and advance professions related to the science of exercise as medicine;

2)  Build relationships that foster growth and collaboration with other organizations, physicians, scientists, and educators concerned with the science of exercise and related fields;

3)  Arrange mutual meetings of physicians, educators, clinicians and scientists;
