Feb 08, 2021

COVID-19-vaccine-and-the-black-community-go-to-webinar-pageFebruary is Black History Month! It’s a dedicated time to acknowledge the contributions of Black people to American society and culture, as well as a time to reflect on the racial injustices and discrimination still taking place today.

As part of Black History Month, ACSM will host a a special webinar from 4-5 p.m. EST on February 18. ACSM President NiCole Keith, Ph.D., FACSM, will moderate a discussion with vaccine expert Paul Offit, M.D.; and physicians Tina Master, M.D., FACSM; and Alex McDonald, M.D., on the current epidemiology of COVID-19, immunizations and the importance of vaccine acceptance, especially in Black communities, to end the pandemic.

The webinar learning objectives include:
• Understand the current epidemiologic trends of COVID-19 and the implications of emerging genetic variants on the pandemic
• Describe the current state of vaccine development, those being distributed and the role that vaccines will play in ending the pandemic
• Learn how to advocate for patients, especially those in Black communities, to maximize vaccine acceptance
