About Us

Welcome to the Texas ACSM website!

Our continuing focus in Texas American College of Sports Medicine is to inspire students to become more involved in exercise science based research by providing support and opportunities to allow this to happen. Thanks to diligent planning of Dr. Hiro Tanaka, Past-President, we completed another successful annual conference in March 2018 in Austin, Texas on the University of Texas main campus. We broke all previous records with over 700 in attendance.

The 2019 Texas ACSM annual conference will be hosted by Tarleton State University and held Thursday February 28th and Friday March 1st 2019 at Tarrant County College Trinity River Campus in Fort Worth, Texas.  It’s a beautiful venue in downtown Ft. Worth with Sundance Square not far and lots of hiking /biking trails attached (almost) to the venue. Make sure to bring your best running shoes and/or bike! Please save the dates and look for upcoming announcements about the meeting in the Fall. I have been actively preparing an exciting program and hope that all will find the speakers engaging and inspiring. We will have both our clinical and science tracks again this year to provide more variety to the meeting. Additionally, we still plan on holding the TACSM Student Bowl competition and scientific posters. Our student research development awards will be offered in a new and exciting format so look for that application soon. Please make sure to check for all our abstract and award deadlines in the coming months!

Our website is NEW and IMPROVED! Please check it out and make sure your membership is up to date, check annual conference updates, and get links to the national American College of Sports Medicine site. I am honored to serve you as Texas ACSM President. As always, we invite you to serve our chapter and get involved as well. We look forward to seeing you all at the annual meeting in the Spring!
