Through this preconference, attendees will develop new skills to manage fitness and function in elderly clients. Sarcopenia is a major determinant of “frailty” and frail individuals are at greater risks of falls, fractures, institutionalization, physical dependence, and premature death. Through a combination of lecture, demonstration, and practice, attendees will learn simple field-based assessments and exercises, that can identify and mitigate many causes of frailty-related falls and fractures in older adult clients. During guided interactive practice sessions, Peter and Paul will teach participants evidence-based tools for working with older adults and for improving their balance, power and physical function.
