Why Become an ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologist®?

ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologists® are healthcare professionals that utilize scientific rationale to design, implement and supervise exercise programming for those with chronic diseases, conditions or physical limitations. In addition to performing clinical assessments, ACSM RCEPs may oversee programs and departments related to exercise testing, prescription, and training, such as exercise rehabilitation, weight management, and more.

ACSM RCEPs have the practical experience, scientific knowledge, and graduate-level degree to work in a variety of facilities, including hospitals and clinics, research programs, physicians’ offices, and exercise facilities. ACSM Registered Clinical Exercise Physiologists® earn ACSM’s highest-ranking clinical certification – and represent the gold standard of health fitness certifications by not only encouraging individual education and behavior change in patients, but in working with teams of healthcare professionals dedicated to raising the bar of patient and client care.

"The RCEP was my goal since my freshmen year of college. I felt that if I wanted to be the best I could within the field I needed to select the best certification. It required me to study more, read additional materials, and learn from my clinical experiences. Knowing the process I went through helps me to encourage my students as they are working to reach their goals."
