Brown Bag Series in Science: Hemostasis – Both Hero and Villain of the Cardiovascular System

Feb. 12, 2020

Thursday, February 27 | 12:00 p.m. EST

ACSM Brown Bag_Nagelkirk

Join Paul Nagelkirk, Ph.D., FACSM, on February 27 for the next ACSM Brown Bag Series in Science webinar. Dr. Nagelkirk will discuss how hemostatic systems prevent blood loss in the case of injury, how those same systems contribute to adverse events (i.e., heart attack and stroke), as well as how acute exercise and regular physical activity modulate blood clotting potential.

Dr. Nagelkirk currently serves as the director of the Integrative Exercise Physiology Laboratory and an associate professor of exercise science at Ball State University. His research interests generally focus on the influence of exercise on molecular mediators of cardiovascular diseases, with particular emphasis on blood coagulation and fibrinolysis.

ACSM’s monthly Brown Bag Series gives students and professionals a chance to learn more about the diverse science ACSM members conduct. Join us for these informal discussions and hear more about what members study, the research methodology they use and some of the interesting results their research generates. View previous webinars.

Unable to watch the webinar live? Register anyway, and you will receive a link to the recorded version afterward.
