Bidding Closed: ACSM to Auction Sports Memorabilia and More

Sept. 25, 2024

After more than 40 years at the same location, ACSM has transitioned its operations to a short-term office space and the ACSM Board of Trustees voted in 2023 to sell the national headquarters building and property in downtown Indianapolis.

As part of this transition, we’re inviting ACSM members and certified professionals to participate in two online auctions from September 30 to October 14. It’s important to note that the auction will not include any historical items tied to ACSM’s rich, 70-year history or other items that need to be retained for business purposes.  In preparation for the building sale, ACSM Historian Sean Walsh, Ph.D., FACSM carefully assessed the entire contents of the building to determine what should be protected, saved and stored due to its historical value and significance. Learn more about Sean’s work and process by reading his blog post.

Sports Memorabilia Auction

234 lots of unique sports history items. Highlights include Olympics memorabilia, including official blazers and jacket, bags, participation medals and insignia, numerous programs, including 1936 Berlin games featuring images of Jesse Owens, and the 1912 Stockholm Games, and a large timing clock from the 1988 Seoul Games. Large collection of Sports Illustrated magazines, including 1st and 2nd publications (circa 1954), 1977 Larry Bird Cover, 1961 Wilt Chamberlin cover and more. Includes 1929 Arena magazine with Babe Ruth cover; coin proof sets; vintage sports equipment and games; vintage microscopes and more. Bidding is now closed.

Office Furniture Auction

120 lots including desks, cubicles, file cabinets, display cabinets; Sharp copy machine; ice maker; A/V equipment; conference tables and chairs; shelving of all kinds; NCAA chairs; vintage books and more. Bidding is now closed.

Both auctions will close on October 14. The exact closing time for each item is noted on that item.

If a bid is placed within the last 60 seconds before the item closes, the bidding will remain open for another 60 seconds and so forth. The item will then close once 60 seconds have passed without a bid. We recommend that if there is an item you want to be sure to purchase that you are online to watch bidding at that item's close time.

Proceeds from the auction will help defray ACSM’s operational expenses associated with the sale of the building and any additional funds will be considered for a donation to the ACSM Foundation.

Questions? Contact the ACSM Customer Experience Team.  If you have questions about bidding registration logistics, please contact the support noted on the auction platform.
