ACSM’s Brown Bag series provides ACSM students an opportunity to learn more about the diverse scientific work ACSM members conduct. Sign up for this informal discussion with an ACSM member to hear more about what they study, the general research methodology they use and some of the interesting results of their research.

This presentation will provide an overview of recent advances in our understanding of temperature regulation in humans, particularly as it relates to behavioral responses. He will address how the adoption of new methods have enabled novel and interesting findings that are relevant to basic, applied, and clinical settings.

Presenter:
Zachary Schlader, PhD, FACSM | Assistant Professor in the Department of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences and an Investigator in the Center for Research and Education in Special Environments at the University at Buffalo

His research is focused on understanding the implications of thermal stress on integrative physiology in healthy and ‘at risk’ (e.g., manual laborers, older adults, various disease states, etc.) populations.
