FREE ACSM Brown Bag Webinar "Muscle - Bone: A Match Made for Strength"

April 21, 2021

Thursday, April 29 | 12 - 1 p.m. EDT

April 2021 ACSM Brown Bag SeriesOsteoporosis has been called a pediatric disease with geriatric consequences. One strategy to reduce the risk of osteoporosis and low peak bone mass later in life is to optimize peak bone mass and strength. Children and youth between the ages of 9 and 18 years are in their key bone building years. However, it is difficult to screen for bone health in children and adults due to the necessity of specialized equipment not available to most coaches, teachers and clinicians. Muscle function tests may provide a simple, objective and reliable measure to predict and monitor bone strength across the lifespan. Join ACSM Fellow Vanessa R Yingling, Ph.D., from California State University East Bay as she shares insights on this important topics.

ACSM’s monthly Brown Bag Series gives students and professionals a chance to learn more about the diverse science ACSM members conduct. Join us for these informal discussions and hear more about what members study, the research methodology they use and some of the interesting results their research generates. View previous webinars.
