ACSM’s CCRB Announces Board Member Updates

The ACSM Committee on Certification and Registry Boards (CCRB) is the independent and autonomous governing body for ACSM certification programs. Members who serve on CCRB play an integral role in the development and support of ACSM Certified professionals around the world.  

The following were appointed to the Executive committee: 

  • Lauren Korzan, MA, ACSM-GEI, ACSM-EP, CCRB Executive Council Chair 

  • Ashley Artese, Ph.D., ACSM-EP, ACSM-GEI, Group Exercise Instructor (GEI) Credentialing Group Chair 

  • Laura Newsome, Ph.D., ACSM-CEP, EIM, Member-At-Large 

  • Rachelle Reed, Ph.D., ACSM-EP, Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Subcommittee Chair 

  • Victor Romano, EdD, DHSc, ACSM-EP, Ethics & Professional Conduct Chair 

The following were appointed to CCRB subcommittees: 

  • Greta Watkins, MPH, ACSM-CPT 

  • Amber Chelette, PhD, ACSM-CPT  

  • Joshua Espinoza, MBA, MS, ACSM-CPT 

  • Robyn Whitehead, PsyD, ACSM-EP 

  • Paul Davis, PhD, ACSM-CEP 

CCRB would like to thank the following members as they end their terms of service to the committee: 

  • Christie Ward-Ritacco, Ph.D., FACSM, ACSM-EP, serving as CCRB Executive Council Chair, for guiding the CCRB EC through its new strategic plan to advance the credibility and integrity of ACSM certified professionals through career-long development with evidence-based practices to benefit all. 

  • Vanessa Kercher, Ph.D., ACSM-EP, serving as CCRB Member-At-Large, for helping the CCRB gain a better understanding of the continuing education interest areas and delivery preferences of ACSM certified professionals. 

  • Madeline Paternostro-Bayles, Ph.D., FACSM, ACSM-CEP, serving as Ethics & Professional Conduct Chair, for playing a crucial role in ensuring that ACSM's certified professionals consistently meet the high professional standards expected by employers and, more importantly, the public. 

  • Paul Gallo, EdD, FACSM, ACSM-CEP, serving as Continuing Professional Education Subcommittee Chair, for clarifying the CEC requirements for ACSM certified professionals and reimagining the ACSM Education Provider Program.  

  • Paul will remain on the CPE committee as a committee member for a second three-year term through 2026. 

  • Arthur Hockwald, MS, ACSM-CPT, Certified Personal Trainer Credentialing Committee, for helping maintain the integrity of the ACSM-CPT program through exam development.  

  • Aleen Dailey, MS, ACSM-CEP, ACSM-GEI, Group Exercise Instructor Credentialing Committee, for her 6 years to help transform the ACSM-GEI program to be more practically aligned to industry.

The Greater New York Regional Chapter of the American College of Sports Medicine has set goals to

1)  Promote and advance professions related to the science of exercise as medicine;

2)  Build relationships that foster growth and collaboration with other organizations, physicians, scientists, and educators concerned with the science of exercise and related fields;

3)  Arrange mutual meetings of physicians, educators, clinicians and scientists;

4)  Make available post-graduate education in fields related to these sciences;

5)  Initiate, promote and correlate research in these fields;
