COVID-19 precautions at the 2022 SEACSM Annual Meeting

SEACSM is committed to holding a safe in-person meeting February 17–19, 2022 in Greenville SC. In addition to following hotel, local, state, and CDC recommendations we are also adopting best practices to reduce and mitigate the risk of COVID-19 transmission developed and strongly recommended to regional chapters by National ACSM for meetings, conferences, and events.
All attendees, including participants, speakers, exhibitors, and guests, at the 2022 Southeast ACSM Annual Meeting are required to:
1. submit proof that they are fully vaccinated, as that term is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) at the time of the meeting,
2. submit proof of a negative COVID test taken not more than 72 hours prior to the start of the meeting.
Specific requirements, including but not limited to the type of documentation required, the type of test required, and the time period in which the test must be administered may change closer to the meeting based on CDC guidelines at that time as well as any applicable requirements of the local government and/or health authorities.
Attendees will have the opportunity to upload their COVID-19 vaccination record and/or test results through an online platform prior to attending the meeting. The online verification process is simple, secure, and HIPAA-compliant. We recommend that all attendees also bring proof of vaccination or negative test to the meeting. More information about the verification process will be available later this month.
In addition, all attendees must wear face masks/coverings (preferably double-ply or N-95 quality) at all times in meeting rooms, poster sessions, and other venues. An exception will be made for speakers in oral presentation sessions who may remove their mask while presenting.
As the meeting approaches, an update to these recommendations may be warranted, so check back here for the latest information about how we're implementing safety precautions. Thank you for your patience and for helping us gather safely at our 50th Anniversary Annual Meeting.

Attention Presenters: Preparing your poster and oral presentations

Congratulations to all SEACSM members who will be presenting in oral and poster free communication sessions, thematic poster sessions, tutorials, and symposia at the annual meeting! To make sure your presentation and the meeting as a whole runs smoothly, there are a few things you need to do to prepare. First, make sure you register for the conference, book a hotel room, and, importantly, understand the COVID-19 precautions and what you need to do before you arrive in Greenville. Then, prepare your presentation following the guidelines below.

Poster free communications and thematic posters
Posters should fit on a display board which is 4 feet high and 6 feet wide. To make your poster easily readable, the title, author(s), and institution should be prominently displayed across the top border with lettering height between 1 and 2 inches. Choose large font (at least 18 points) and clear graphics that can be easily viewed from a distance of about 3 feet. Most importantly, make sure you know the time and location of your session to have your poster set up and ready. If you are flying, bring your poster as carry-on luggage to make sure it arrives with you. More detailed poster presentation guidelines are available here

Oral free communications, tutorial, and symposia
If you have an oral presentation, you will submit your presentation before the conference so it can be loaded on the conference computers. You will receive instructions about submitting your presentation 2–3 weeks before the meeting. You should plan to have your presentation submitted at least one week before the conference. If you have any questions about preparing and submitting your presentation, please contact Eric Plaisance at

Sponsor and Exhibitor Opportunities

The Southeast ACSM chapter has a variety of opportunities available for companies and organizations to market their products and services to sports medicine and exercise science professionals in the southeast and to gain local, regional, and national exposure for their company.

One of the highlights of the conference is the opportunity for one-on-one interactions with exhibitors participating in the meeting. The opportunity to learn more about the products and services that companies and organizations have to offer sports medicine and exercise science professionals is an important part of the meeting.

The sponsors and exhibitors that participate at the annual meeting are from a wide variety of industries and institutions. These vendors offer products, equipment or services that the conference attendees frequently use in their professions.

Please contact us if you or your company or institution would like to participate as a sponsor or exhibitor, or if you know of a company or institution that you think would like to participate or that you would like to see at the meeting.

Contact Michael Berry ( as soon as possible to learn more about these opportunities.
