ACSM Names Incoming Editor-in-Chief of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise

Andrew M. Jones, Ph.D., FACSMACSM announces that Andrew M. Jones, Ph.D., FACSM, has been selected as the next Editor-in-Chief (EIC) of Medicine & Science in Sports & Exercise® (MSSE). Dr. Jones was selected through a rigorous application and interview search process from among a pool of talented and qualified candidates. His scholarly achievements, experience in research and publications and long-standing service to MSSE as an associate editor support his forthcoming work as EIC of ACSM’s flagship journal.

Dr. Jones currently serves as deputy vice-chancellor for research, impact, business and innovation at the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom. He has mentored more than 30 Ph.D. students and eight postdoctoral fellows, co-edited three books and published more than 380 research articles. Dr. Jones joined ACSM in 1995, became a Fellow in 2001 and has served as an associate editor of MSSE for 16 years.

Dr. Jones will work with current EIC L. Bruce Gladden, Ph.D., FACSM, over the next several months and will assume official duties as EIC beginning January 1, 2022. He is delighted to have been selected for this role. “It is a tremendous honor to lead such a prestigious journal, and I am excited about contributing to its future success.”

As leader of the MSSE editorial board, the EIC has full content responsibility, ensuring that the mission, scope and core information is considered during the submission and publication of articles while working with the editorial board and journal staff. MSSE features original investigations, clinical studies and comprehensive reviews on current topics in sports medicine and exercise science. With this leading multidisciplinary journal, exercise physiologists, physiatrists, physical therapists, team physicians and athletic trainers get a vital exchange of information from basic and applied science, medicine, education and allied health fields.
