ACSM From Around the Field science series open to students

ACSM’s From around the Field science webinar series provides ACSM students and members an opportunity to learn more about the diverse science our members conduct. Join us for informal discussions with our ACSM members to hear more about what they study, the general research methodology they use, and some of the interesting results their research is generating. In October, Mary Kennedy, Ph.D., ACSM-EP, from Edith Cowan University in Perth, Australia, will discuss the fundamentals of implementation science and the importance in the field of exercise oncology, along with research findings from real-world clinical implementation trials. DataWorks! hosts webinar on how metadata can accelerate biomedical research

The FASEB DataWorks! Salon series’ October webinar will feature Arjun Krishnan, Ph.D., visiting associate professor of biomedical informatics at the University of Colorado Anschutz Medical Campus, who will share work related to resolving metadata barriers for data harmonization, and Mark Musen, M.D., Ph.D., professor of biomedical informatics at Stanford University, who will discuss metadata best practices and standards to support FAIR (Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reuse of digital assets) research. Healthy People releases “5 Things to Know about Health Equity” video

As a priority of the Health People 2030 initiative, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has produced a short video emphasizing the importance of health equity in improving national health goals. The video covers five areas of how organizations can use Healthy People 2030 to improve and advance health equity. ACSM members in good standing are eligible for FASEB CARES award

Applications for the CARES Award are now open, which provides financial support to alleviate monetary burdens associated with caregiving, enabling society members to continue their scientific training, professional development, and career progression. The application deadline is Oct. 27. As part of FASEB’s 26 full member societies, ACSM members are eligible to apply.
