ACSM Recertification | Stay Certified

In This Section:

Everything you need to recertify by Dec. 31

Recertifying your ACSM certification signifies that you are staying current with industry standards and practice - allowing you to continue practicing in the profession. Going through the ACSM recertification process once every three years means that you don't have to retake the exam. Renewing is quick and easy.

Important Info

  • ACSM Certification late fee is $75. To avoid this late fee, the certification requirements should be completed prior to December 31st, by 11:59 PM (Eastern USA).
  • Hard copy certificates are no longer printed and sent hard-copy from the ACSM National Center. Going digital reduces the cost of doing business and increases the speed of credential delivery. To access your credential, please search your name or send an email to the certification team
  • ACSM Certification has made several updates to the certification portal. View the ACSM Recertification Instructions .

Your ACSM Certification is valid for three years.
After three years, you will need to meet the following minimum requirements to recertify.

Meet the CEC, CME, CEU requirement

Continuing Education Tracking

It's important to keep track of your earned CECs for your records. These forms should not be sent to ACSM. Credits must be tracked online through the self-reporting tool in your profile ("My CEC History/Certification" tab).

Renewing Multiple Credentials

If you have earned more than one ACSM certification you may renew all of your ACSM certifications. A $5 fee will be charged for each additional credential. For example, if you wish to maintain both the ACSM-CPT and the ACSM-EP certifications, the recertification fee would be $60 ($55 for the highest certification, in this case the ACSM-CPT, and $5 for the ACSM-EP).
